ibay Digital didn’t start as a digital agency.
It started in 1998 as Toy Planet, a small studio focused on graphic design, print, and advertising. From the beginning, the focus was simple: do good work that delivers real value.
As the industry evolved, so did we. With strong design roots and a growing understanding of digital, the business expanded naturally, from creative execution into web, strategy, and more complex digital solutions. Over time, we moved beyond simply producing work to helping businesses think more clearly about how they show up, communicate, and grow.
In 2014, Toy Planet merged with Visionaire to form ibay Digital.
We were a team of five. WordPress certified. Focused, capable, and ready to grow.
By 2015, we had moved into our Salt River office and began shaping what ibay is today. We invested heavily in upskilling, expanded into social media and paid marketing, and grew both our client base and turnover. As our clients grew, so did the complexity of the work.
Websites became platforms. Projects became systems. Marketing became more connected.
We moved into e-commerce, online training, and fully customised digital solutions. At the same time, we stepped into consultancy, working closely with clients to understand their businesses, uncover insights, and build strategies that solve real problems, not just surface-level requests.
By 2020, while many businesses struggled to adapt, we were already positioned for change. Our diverse client base and digital-first thinking allowed us to support brands as they shifted online. We didn’t just navigate that period, we grew through it.
In 2024, we extended our impact beyond commercial work through the RIPL CSI initiative, applying our skills to support causes that matter.
Today, in 2026, we are an eight-person team based in Bella Rosa. A focused, multi-disciplinary digital agency working with South African and international clients to deliver practical, high-impact digital solutions.
